PageInsight vs Simple Analytics
Simple Analytics is a great general-purpose web analytics tool — privacy-first, clean dashboard, fair pricing. The catch when you try to use it for Notion: it expects a <script> tag, which Notion strips from published pages.

- Auto-insert via Notion API
- Heartbeat time-on-page
- Per-Notion-page rollups

- Notion blocks the script tag on public pages
- No per-Notion-page rollup

Made for Notion specifically Simple Analytics is a great general-purpose tool but doesn't speak Notion's data model. There's no per-Notion-page rollup, no auto-insert via Notion's API, and the embed needs manual `<script>` tag injection that Notion blocks.
Auto-insert tracker via Notion API We use Notion's blocks/children PATCH endpoint to drop the embed block in for you with one click.
Notion-native embed block Simple Analytics is a `<script>` snippet — Notion strips arbitrary <script> tags from published pages. Their iframe isn't an embed-block-friendly URL either.
Per-page breakdown for shared Notion pages Both can show per-URL data, but Simple Analytics keys on path; for `notion.site` URLs the path is the page slug + ID, which makes filtering harder than Notion-aware tooling. | Path-based
Real-time dashboard | ||
Heartbeat-based time-on-page Simple Analytics measures bounces but doesn't expose active reading time per page.
Privacy / no third-party cookies Both tools are cookie-free.
Starting paid plan Different pricing axis. We meter pages, they meter events. For a small Notion site, both are cheap; for a high-traffic public Notion site, our flat 100-page Pro tier is usually simpler. | $10/mo · 100 pages | $10/mo · 100k events |
Free tier | 5 trackers, no card | 100k events, 14-day retention |

Footprint on the page Simple Analytics is invisible. Our widget is a small visible status panel — some users like the social proof, some prefer hidden tracking. We're working on a hidden mode for Team+ plans. | 260px embed widget | Hidden tracker |
Used by | Notion creators, founders, teams publishing in Notion | Bloggers, indie hackers, marketing sites |

When Simple Analytics is the better pick
If most of your traffic is on a regular marketing site (not Notion), Simple Analytics is an excellent privacy-first choice with a longer track record and broader integrations (Webflow, Framer, Ghost, etc.). They also have an invisible-by-default tracker, which we don't — our widget is a small visible status panel.
We started PageInsight specifically because the script-tag pattern doesn't fit Notion. If your audience reads you on Notion pages, picking the Notion-native tool will save you from working around "script not loading" bugs forever.
